The 2014 AGM’s for BSPF, SPATA and BISHTA took place last Friday (19.09.14) in the stunning surroundings of the Cricket St Thomas Hotel, Chard in Somerset. The AGM shared its setting with the President’s Weekend hosted by Issy Rickards-Sanger, which began on the evening of the 19th. Our thanks go to everyone who supported the AGM meetings and the President’s Weekend, of which both provided fantastic networking opportunities with time to catch-up and share business experiences with fellow members.
AGM Presentations were given by Chris Hayes and Sallie Golding (BSPF) with the BISHTA meeting chaired by Alex Kemsley. Chris Hayes chaired the SPATA meeting (on behalf of Richard Carrington), and the BSPF AGM was chaired by the President, Issy Rickards Sanger. In the afternoon, we welcomed our guest presenters; Kelly Warren (Avon & Somerset Police) and Peter Newport (Chemical Business Association) who presented training on The Control of Explosives Precursors. We also welcomed Dr David Lapham (Pera Technology) who presented training on the Funding Opportunities in Our Industry.
Following a successful day the evening continued as the Presidents Weekend began, with an informal meal ahead of the beginning of the social activities on Saturday. On Saturday morning, the day began with everyone splitting into two competing teams headed up by Issy (Issy’s Aces) and Kevin Rickards-Sanger (Kevin’s Clangers) for air rifle shooting and archery. As you can imagine, competition was very intense! Some stars shone with some cracking scores.
Becki Cannings – Overall Highest Individual Score
Robin (HOOD) Flux – Highest Individual Scorer (Archery)
Dyfed Thompson Smith – Highest Individual Scorer (Shooting)
Whilst Chris Hayes has decided rifle shooting is not his forte.
No expense was spent, with the fantastic inflatable trophy and chocolate medals presented at dinner on Saturday evening. The winning team was Issy’s Aces and the team celebrated as Kevin and his Clangers commiserated. An evening of entertainment continued in the Show Time bar with performances by the Rat Pack and bags of laughs from the resident comic. The weekend closed on Sunday morning with the BSPF meeting, and all attendees agreed that it had been a great to enjoy the fantastic surroundings of the Cricket St Thomas Hotel.
