BLAIR BOOST FOR UK SWIM SPAS
Exercise pools, also known as swim spas, are making waves in the national Press this week after former Prime Minister Tony Blair and his wife Cherie took delivery of a ?30k portable swim spa.
The high profile couple is setting a great example after losing four stone between them. The swim spa will now become part of their fitness regime although it was actually son Euan who was the instigator of the purchase.
?Initially the swim spa was intended to help rugby playing Euan overcome a knee injury first but as soon as the Blairs realised the huge benefits for them and all the family, they were more than enthusiastic buyers,? said an inside source.
Since the Blairs left Downing Street last June, it seems basic diet and exercise has worked wonders. The new 20ft Riptide Trident PRO exercise pool is fitted with a counter-current to swim against and promises to give even the strongest swimmer an excellent work-out.
The national watchdog for the spa and hot tub industry, BISHTA says swim spas are still hot property as part of garden or lifestyle makeovers every year. But publicity generated by The Blairs recent purchase has prompted a rush of enquiries.
?The Blair effect has had a major influence and we are seeing lots of interest in swim spas and exercise pools,? says BISHTA.
