Enjoy your garden this autumn

Enjoy your garden this autumn with BISHTA’s guide to buying a Hot Tub

The summer is coming to an end, which means the nights will be drawing in and the days will be getting cooler.

However, this is an ideal time to make use of your garden with a Hot Tub that will keep you warm in the outdoors, all through the colder months.

Hot Tubs are not only a fantastic way to make use of your garden throughout the year; they also provide a great social activity and can also bring health benefits as well. There is a wide range of Hot Tubs to suit all budgets and spaces.

BISHTA (The British and Irish Spa and Hot Tub Association) – the trade association for Hot Tubs and Spas in the UK – has provided a simple step by step guide for anyone who is considering buying a Hot Tub.

Buyers guide for Hot Tubs:

1.     Always choose a BISHTA member so that you can be assured that your purchase will be built to industry standards. You may wish to check the company is a current member of BISHTA by contacting the office or checking the relevant website (details below)

2.     Ensure the seller can show you the type of products that they are selling and ideally you should try them out with a “wet test” to see if the particular model is to your liking. Ask past clients for their feedback on the seller’s professionalism and ability to hit agreed deadlines

3.     Be very wary of internet bargains, there appears to be a growing number of customers dissatisfied with some companies that are not BISHTA members.

4.     Find out what method of water treatment is proposed

5.     Check the warranties on the products

6.     Check whether your Hot Tub or Spa is going to be commissioned once delivered on site, you should also expect a site survey to confirm what will be required to make the delivery of your new spa go as smoothly as possible

7.     Ask your seller about any after-sales maintenance and service options

BISHTA recommends that consumers buy their Hot Tub from an accredited BISHTA member,

who is able to give detailed advice about the use of water treatment products and the upkeep of the Hot Tub, as well as providing peace of mind that they are buying from a reputable supplier.

BISHTA is the trade association for Hot Tubs and Spas, which works with members to meet industry standards to make usage safe.
