1. BISHTA logo electronic version
Please find attached the electronic version of the BISHTA logo for you to use on your promotional materials.
This logo is the version approved by BISHTA and it would be very helpful if members could use this logo on their
website, as some companies are still displaying the older version (where the words “Promoting Safe Spa Water”
are just outside the main logo).
2. Water Hygiene Management Courses
Please find attached the poster for the latest Water Hygiene Management courses, which are being held in Scotland
and Ireland in August. The cost is £80.00 per head for members and £125.00 per head for non members and the
courses are available to both BISHTA and SPATA members. Final details are being arranged with the venues and
these will be notified to members. If you are unavailable for either of these dates and would like to attend a course in
a different part of the UK, please contact the office to be added to the waiting list.
3. Farleigh Hospice Charity Auction
Please note we have been alerted by Huw Chivers from Hot Tub Barn Ltd that a charity auction has taken place for
Farleigh Hospice. He would like to pass on his thanks for the 4 spas that were donated and they raised a total of
£1,550.00 for the hospice.
4. Interbad 2010 - International Trade Fair for Swimming Pools, Pool and Bath Technology and Saunas
Interbad takes place every two years in Stuttgart – With the current economic climate, the favourable exchange rate
and the support of the UKTI, Interbad could be a fantastic opportunity to open up European and International markets.
With over 16,000 visitors to the show, this represents a fantastic opportunity for UK suppliers.
Please see the attachment for costs.
5. Towing Regulations
A BISHTA member has contacted the office to ensure that we were aware of the relevant towing regulations and to
circulate the information to members in case others were not aware. The main issues relate to:
- Unbraked trailer towing – where the maximum unbraked trailer weight is 750kg. As an example, if the weight of
the spa dolly is approx 200kg and the max weight of the spa is approx 550kg, this would be the maximum
weight permissible. The maximum weight of 750kg must not exceed 50% of the towing vehicles unladen weight.
e.g. if the towing vehicle weighs 1,200kg then the unbraked trailer must not exceed 600kg.
- Braked trailers – in a commercial application any vehicle, or vehicle and trailer combination that weighs over
3,500kg must be fitted with a tachograph and the driver must hold the relevant driving licence and an O-Licence
.

6. SPATEX 2011 PR – Bigger and Better
In acknowledgement of the momentum already achieved, SPATEX 2011 is embarking on an unprecedented PR Campaign
to ensure that even more visitors attend. The Organisers are pleased to announce that BOTTLE PR together with
Go Publishing, have been awarded the Public Relations accounts for the 2011 exhibition. Collectively, they will ensure
that the message “SPATEX 2011 provides the single biggest dedicated platform in the UK for all things Pool &
Spa”, will be promoted to as wide an audience as possible.
