Employees get ‘rights’ to request training

Employees have been given the legal right to request time off to take up relevant study or training, under ‘Time to Train’

provisions in the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009 (chapter 22) that came into force on 6th April

this year.  For more information please copy and paste the following link into your web browser http://tinyurl.com/2uqgwge

‘Greengrocer had no Employers Liability Insurance’

A Northumberland fruit shop owner has been fined £2,100 and ordered to pay £1,850.80 costs after an investigation by the

Health and Safety Executive revealed he did not hold Employers’ Liability Insurance to cover any injury claims by his

employees.  This case highlights the importance of our members taking out the appropriate insurance to cover themselves

in the event if ‘things go wrong’, so please check with your insurance provider if this is required.
